Quality Time with Children – A Positive Influence

Spending quality time with your loved ones has a positive impact on their mind. As far as children are concerned, it is an essential part of their growth and wellbeing. Below are a few positive effects that this union can bring about –

Self-esteem building

Children spending quality time with their parents in joint activities can create an optimistic sense of self-respect. Whenever children have a feeling of being cherished by their parents, they are more confident about themselves. Simple activities such as playing badminton or board games together can kindle the feeling of togetherness in the child.

Develops positive behaviour

Children and adolescents who spend quality time with their parents are less prone to get involved in dangerous activities and behaviour. As per studies done by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse via Arizona State University, teens who do not have frequent family dinners are more likely to use narcotic substances. Children who often have meals with their families, usually have enhanced nutritional intake, as it positively impacts their eating habits as compared to those who don’t.

Enhanced academic performance

Spending time helping your children with homework or doing fun reading sessions, especially bedtime stories in their early years will influence an environment valuing academics. When one creates an open environment and situation where a child feels non-hesitant coming to the parents with schoolwork, the child has more chances of performing well educationally.

Spending quality time with your children can not only influence their growth but can also be a stress buster for you and enhance the feeling of empathy towards your child. One will not only nurture but also gain from the experience.
